Instructions for Coffee Volunteers

Quantities:
During the winter months (about November thru March) when we have more visitors, more coffee is required, approximately 100 cups. The rest of the year, 70 to 80 should suffice.

100 cups = 5 styrofoam (coffee) cups of grounds, or about 1 cup of grounds per 20 cups of brewed coffee.
70 to 80 cups = About 4 cups of grounds

Instructions:
Note: Use the deep sink nearest the classroom door
1) Fill large coffee decanter (brewer) with water up to the desired amount indicated on the inside surface.
2) Fill the strainer basket with the desired amount of grounds (do not use a filter)
3) Replace the center post and place strainer in decanter on the post until seated properly.
4) Put decanter lid on and place filled decanter on service cart. Wheel it out to the classroom area and plug in along the east side wall, toward the front half of the room.

Use a smaller coffee decanter to make hot water for tea and hot chocolate. Make 1 to 2 pitchers of ice tea. Make at home in advance or place 1 large teabag in each pitcher, fill with cold water and ice, and let sit until class begins. Discard tea bags prior to serving.

Fill at least one pitcher with ice at the start of class and another one with cold water and place with the other coffee, tea, and condiments.

Put styrofoam and plastic cups (or whatever is available), sugar, creamers, stir straws, napkins, etc. on the table alongside the coffee cart.

MOST ALL OF THE UTENSILS, PLATES, CUPS, AND NAPKINS CAN BE FOUND IN THE LOWER CABINETS ALONG THE EAST WALL. ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES ARE IN THE CLOSET IN THE FAR SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE ROOM.
